Renegade Roller Derby, Winter X Games, and Live Music Bring Back the Lust & Gore

Just when things felt all weirdly stagnant and normal, a good week serves as a refreshing kick in the bits to throw us out of complacency. A kick-ass roller derby massacre, a dose of no-holds-barred extreme athleticism and fearlessness, and some great live music remind us that our Lust & Gore Hardwear journey is about feeling good. Our hardware-heavy cowboy hats, military caps, and jewelry are supposed to make the person wearing them feel like a badass, rock-'n'-roll-lifestyle-living superstar. That is how we feel most of the time, so Lust & Gore Hardwear was started as an attempt to share that wealth. Unfortunately, of late, the monotony of real-life worries has snatched some of our motivation. Thanks to the events of a busy last week, the fire is re-kindled.

Real life can suck our nuts (and bolts).

Girl an Girl Action and Other Lust & Gore Fire-Starters

It's been nearly seven months since Lusty and I started Lust & Gore Hardwear (www.lustandgorehardwear.com). We thought it was about time to shed some light on what makes Lusty Crush and Aurora Gory Alice tick. Or, more specifically, what makes our tickers beat faster, and our blood run hotter. Said simpler, here's what makes Lust & Gore hot . . .

1) Roller derby! Speed, aggression, and sweaty girls squeezing through tight packs and rolling on top of one another to deliver a beatdown all in the name of healthy competition. Exercise and camaraderie were never this fun in high school.

2) Music. Trip Hop and downtempo are overtly sexy, but a little Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears can flip our switches if the stars are all aligned in beer bottle shaped constellations.

3) Wine and cheese. We can't drink beer all the time and still maintain these killer physiques. It is a fine line between va va voom and boom bada boom. Besides, wine and cheese feel rich and luxurious. Someday, our life will be overflowing with riches, so we may as well train for them now.

4) Denial. An almost-sex scene is way hotter than the deed done. Enjoy the chase. Feel the burn.

5) The right clothes. Putting on the clothes that look and feel like you feel at that moment is a slice of perfection. From the image the clothes put out, to the way the clothes fit and feel when you are getting your groove on, the right threads are the cherry on top of a deliciously sweet and sticky sundae. And, we are firm believers that, sometimes, the right clothes may be no clothes at all.

What It Means To Be Rollergirl Owned and Operated

We wouldn't make it if we wouldn't wear it.

We don't write run-of-the-mill press releases or business blogs.

We don't look like the models from big-business fashion, and we don't hire people who look like those models for our photo shoots.

We don't have a lot of money, so we price our stuff for people like us.

We have business meetings at happy hour and in the bathtub.

We have razor-sharp tongues ready to offer cutting sarcasm if you can handle it.

We don't hold our tongues if someone treats us or others like shit.

We get our aggression out regularly so we always offer pleasant and compassionate customer service.

Your experience with us will never be cookie-cutter.

If you roll, we roll with you. Derby-owned Baby!

No X's and O's, just Slugs & Kisses.

Psst . . . Lust & Gore Hardwear Makes Accessories for Men and Women

For those who might be thinking that, because Lust & Gore Hardwear is run by women, that we make products only for women, you are mistaken. Lust & Gore designs for men and women. We have women's tank tops and men's tees. All hats are unisex. Jewelry is available in long and short lengths. Hardware is non-discriminating.

We have worked hard to create product lines that are heavy metal and hardcore whether you are a man or woman. Please don't undo our work by assuming that women create just for women . . . and, even worse, by printing that assumption.

Seriously, Slugs & Kisses.

Lust & Gore Hardwear Designs Custom Military Cap for Hails & Horns Magazine

Lusty and I have been working our fingers to the bones making military caps! When I say we have put our blood, sweat, and tears into this business, mostly I mean blood. But, it has been worth it. Although we are new, we have already cranked out some really sweet designs. When Hails & Horns Magazine approached us to do a hat for them to be included in their mid-spring issue, we threw them the horns in a resounding "Hell yeah!"

This design turned out so amazingly hardcore that we knew we had to make a piece of the action available to our customers. As a result, a derivative of this design, called the Nail Spine Military Cap, is now available on the Lust & Gore Hardwear Website.

Raise your horns and get your head in some heavy metal, literally. Lust & Gore Hardwear -- Hats for Heores and Villains
